Is your third chakra balanced and open? Well… how’s your self-esteem? Are you confident from your core, not your ego? And what does that mean?
What is the third chakra?
The third chakra is located at the navel. It is the center for your personal power and self-esteem. And your ability to master your thoughts and emotions. The color of this chakra is yellow and the element is fire. I liken the third chakra to the power of our radiant sun. We hold the light of transformation within our navel.
The first chakra is earth, the second chakra is water and now the third chakra is fire. It is the fire or desire that burns in your belly. The third chakra is about your passion, your power, your desire and your will.
The third chakra symbol is depicted in this article above. It is the traditional symbol without artistic modification. Therefore energetically it holds within it the true Manipura chakra meaning.

What Does the Third Chakra Represent?
The third chakra is about overcoming the challenges you face in life by having the self- worth to forge forward, learning and transforming from these challenges. Not letting them bring you down but rather to have them make you stronger and more resilient. This is where you learn from your mistakes and making better choices for yourself.
This is the chakra where you learn how to let go of old defeating behavior patterns and grow as an individual. This takes will and action. This chakra expresses itself in its highest form when you align your will with divine will, moving through life divinely empowered, with ease and grace and knowing your worth.
Your Third Chakra Super Power
Worthiness, Commitment
Negative Expression:
Sacrificing what is right for you because receiving approval from another is more important. This is when you are a people pleaser and have a hard time saying no. We think these people are giving however the truth is they are hungry for approval and aren’t serving from a place of fullness.
Being “too nice” and unable to set healthy boundaries for yourself. Being a martyr in an intimate relationship is a negative expression of the third chakra.
Imbalanced solar plexus chakra behaviors to be aware of:
- Need for approval
- Sloth
- Jealousy
- Anger
- Hyperactivity
Positive Expression:
Giving to others from a place of fullness is a positive expression of the third chakra. Giving because you want to give and truly expect nothing in return.
Another positive expression of the third chakra is when you feel fully confident within yourself and also operate from a place of integrity. You know your self-worth and you act accordingly. Hence, you are able to stand up for yourself. That includes the ability to set healthy boundaries for yourself in your relationships.
Other examples:
- Self-esteem
- Self-discipline,
- Ambition
- Courage
- Generosity
Lesson of the 3rd Chakra:
The third chakra is where you learn how to deeply honor yourself. It’s about knowing your own self-worth and knowing that you matter.
Third Chakra Healing Exercise
Have you ever had a sick feeling in your stomach during relationship turmoil — possibly feeling abandoned and lonely or fearful of moving forward? When you have that feeling you need to connect with your inner child and let him/her know that you are worthy, that you are loved and lovable.
Good Third Chakra Gemstones:
Citrine, Topaz, and Yellow Calcite
You need to tell yourself (and your inner child) that you are an amazing person. You need to step in and be your number one cheerleader. This exercise is not a physical exercise as I have given before. This exercise is having you tune in and learn to be there for yourself when you perceive others aren’t.
The next time you get that sick feeling in your gut know that it is your self-esteem needing a boost. Your own inner dialogue cheering you on will literally release the pain in your gut.
Third Chakra Healing Dialogue
So next time this happens — stop — take your hands and place them on your heart. Feel the warmth of your hands on your heart. Then take a nice deep breath and be there for yourself. With that self-presence then say to yourself, “I am perfect whole and complete just the say I am.” Take another breath, feel the comfort. Then say the same thing again but use your name as if you are talking to your best friend. For example, “Linda, you are perfect whole and complete just the way you are…. I love you.”
This is a powerful exercise that will help you lift your confidence.
Self Reflection
- How is your third chakra expressing itself in your day to day life?
- Do you feel worthy?
- Are you a person that can make a commitment and follow through?
- Or are you a people pleaser, even if it means sacrificing what you know is right for you?
- Are you able to create healthy boundaries for yourself in relationships?
Remember this chakra is about your personal power and knowing that you are worthy just the way you are.
